A hot springs soak, delicious lunch and two museum admissions — what’s not to love about this private tour of Beitou and Taipei? Start your day with hotel pickup by private vehicle and chat with your guide en route to the open-air municipal public baths located at Beitou Hot Spring Park.
On arrival, soak in the sulfurous waters, which include your choice of relaxing warm pools, scalding-hot dips or cold plunges in an outdoor setting that overlooks the lush mountains of Yangmingshan National Park.
After your time here, learn about Beitou’s historical hot springs, developed during the Japanese Colonial period, with a visit to the Beitou Hot Spring Museum. Accompanied by your guide, explore the elegant building that fuses Japanese and Victorian architectural styles, and discover the cultural influences of Japanese onsen (hot spring baths) in Taiwan.
Then re-board your private vehicle for the return drive to Taipei, where you have two options for lunch. Enjoy a basic Taiwanese lunch at a food court, or upgrade for a luxurious meal at the Silks Palace restaurant, located in the National Palace Museum with dishes inspired by famous artwork. (See the sample menu in Itinerary.)
Once your appetite is fulfilled, take time to independently explore the National Palace Museum’s impressive collection of paintings, rare books, ceramics, bronzes, jades and curios. If you indulged in the lunch upgrade, you may recognize the jadeite cabbage, the banded jasper (aka ‘meat-shaped stone’), and the Cauldron of Duke Mao. Make use of the custom audio guide for adults and children (ages 10–14) to understand some 8,000 years of Chinese history on display.
Your full-day tour ends with drop-off at your Taipei hotel in the late afternoon.
