Leave Quito and head out on the famed Pan-American Highway going north.
In to the town of Cayambe, where tasty ‘bizcochos’ are made fresh each morning. Watch as local men and women bake off these biscuits in traditional wood ovens and sample a few of these buttery delights while they are still warm.
Continue on to Mira Lago, where you will find incredible views of Imbabura Volcano and San Pablo Lake. Take some photos before heading to Otavalo, where you will meet Otavaleños (natives) as they prepare for market. Wander the wares and barter for interesting items found only in Ecuador on the Quito Otavalo Marketplace.
Travelers can choose to stay in Otavalo, or continue on to Cotacachi, which is known for its handmade leather bags, belts and other items. Visit in Cotacachi a traditional workshop of Andean Instruments. You will have plenty of time to visit the village and do some shopping here. Enjoy some free time for lunch.
On the way back to Quito we will pick up passengers who stayed in Otavalo.
