If hot air ballooning is on your bucket list, this is the place to check it off. I will say I was a little skeptical when we booked the trip. The company picked us up from the hotel, and we drove for 1/2 an hour. We then randomly stopped on the side of a road where they were setting up the balloon. It seemed a bit like a shady situation, but very quickly it turned out to be awesome.
The balloon isn't tethered so depending on the wind, that decides where the balloon takes off. Which means on the side of the road is where it was that day. The balloon captain ? was very knowledgeable, and once we got off the ground the views were amazing. We had smooth sailing, and a very smooth landing.
The company is all family owned and they take pride in their business. The breakfast post flight was an assortment of cheeses and fruits prepared by mom and dad.
A really great experience. I do warn tall people as the heating device to pump air in to the balloon can get rather toasty. I'm only 5'7 and I had a toasty neck.
Travys Jarrett and myself booked this trip for my birthday. We were treated like royalty from the beginning to the end. Upon our arrival they had prepared coffee and cookies for us. While watching the beautiful balloon come to life, I was being entertained by Bear OSO is his name in Spanish, this was Luis puppy, who was very friendly. I think he really liked me because he stayed around me until it was time for our ride. Luis will put the puppy away for you if you want him to, I just wanted him around. The experience in the balloon was amazing. Luis our driver and tour guide is the best EVER. I travel a lot and have been our a lot of excursions, but this one beats all of them hands down. I would rate this excursion a 10. If you are ever in the Dominican Republic PLEASE let Luis and his crew give you a lifetime memory that you will never forget. The tour was great, seeing the DR from the balloon was breathtaking. Thanks Luis for making my birthday the best ever. When I go back there for vacation again, I will definitely see them again. The best excursion in the DR!! Our pilot has been flying hot air balloons for 20 years!! The flight was perfect, peaceful and something I won't forget! After our hour flight they take you back for cheese that was made that morning and a great breakfast with A little history and a little magic show!
Luis and his whole family were excellent hosts. We called upon our arrival to the Dominican and set up times and pick up from our hotel and everything went exactly as planned. We were up in the balloon for at least 45 minutes and enjoyed the peacefulness of floating over the massive sugar cane fields. The sunrise was absolutely beautiful. We felt totally safe the entire time from pickup to drop off back at our hotel. The breakfast afterwards was a very nice touch and we enjoyed meeting the whole family. We would absolutely do this again !!
We relish this experience. Check mark on Bucket List. Early hour pick up wasn't fun, but we had incentive to get up. The staff was friendly and helpful for loading up, flying smoothly and set-down. We saw goats and cows at small farms and then sugar care fields. We learned more about life in DR and enjoyed the peace of being above the world's issues. Over delicious breakfast we heard about the history of ballooning and the reason for champagne at the conclusion!
Truly a once in a lifetime experience. The balloon company is a family affair and they make you feel part of their family. An early morning, but well worth the felling and sunrise. Transportation came on time not island time at 5:50 AM. About a 30 minute ride to the balloon location in an air conditioned van. After about a 45 minute balloon ride we went back to the facility and had a champagne breakfast served by the family. We had local cheese and fruits while magic was performed. Kids loved it. If you can splurge, avoid the buggy's and ride the balloon. One person's opinion. They did not try to upsell the event which was refreshing.
