What You Can Expect

Full-Day Lucca and Pisa Tour from Montecatini

Lucca

Make your own way to Piazza Italia in Montecatini at 10am. Meet your guide and travel out of the town into the Tuscan countryside.

Your first stop is Pisa, a city that’s famous as the home of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Take photos in front of the iconic monument that’s listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stroll around Piazza dei Miracoli, where the tower sits, and admire other landmarks such as the Baptistery and Camposanto Cemetery. Entrance to Pisa Duomo is also included.

Call in at an enoteca to sample some of the local wine, and enjoy a light lunch at a location nearby (own expense). With your appetite sated, you’ll then climb the steps of the iconic tower to soak up views from the top.

Continue to the city of Lucca, and take advantage of some free time to explore at your own pace. Perhaps stroll around the enchanting city walls, and gaze out over the terracotta roofs of Lucca’s palazzi and churches. Wander along the narrow streets, and explore the shops and cafes of the historic center.

Later, return to your transport for the journey back to Montecatini. Your day trip ends with a drop-off at the start point around 7pm.

Please note: Children under the age of eight are not permitted to climb the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

Fantastic day. Great host on the coach, he worked so hard because the group was so big, The Tour guide around Pisa was very well informed and friendly. Only point to note is, the restaurant where the wine tasting takes place does not include lunch, this was a bit confusing, The restaurant was busy when we arrived and people had to wait along time for a table, we had some wine then decided to eat at another place. A long day but great value and a 'must do'experience.

This tour was very well done. The guide in Pisa was very knowledgable. We saw a lot more than just Miricle Square.

The guide was very friendly and helpful. There was an expert guide in Pisa who gave us the history of the square including inside the cathedral. She was excellent. Unfortunately there was no guided tour of Lucca which I think would have improved our time there.

Johnny was a great guide. We were picked up on time and ready for our adventure. It was great to have over an hour of free time to explore Pisa and climb the stairs before the tour started. We then went to Lucca where Johnny gave us a map for all the areas to check out. He took us to a wonderful restaurant for lunch, which was a real treat. There was no pressure to eat there as some decided to eat some place else. It was really nice not to be rushed and take our time to explore the city. I would go back to Lucca again. Everyone in the group really enjoyed the trip and thought it was a highlight of Italy. I would use Viator again.

While we enjoyed the tour it could have a lot better if it were not multi lingual. The guide while quite good would have to explain everything twice in both English and Spanish

2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better October 2017

Tour bus pick up was 1/2 hour late. On the bus and on our way to Pisa we were told we could not get into the cathedral because of a private event. In order to do so we needed to spend extra euros to enter baptistry and quickly get in line for the cathedral before a certain time. Rushed. no time to visit cemetery. At the end of the Pisa visit, we waited 1/2-3/4 hour for a tour guest to find her way back to the bus to finally continue onto Lucca...............the well travelled guest offered no apology to the other travelers, nor did the tour guide.
Would have liked to have had more time to explore Lucca , but delays of the tour prevented that. Disappointing day.

Bus was about 25 minutes late arriving. Be aware that this is very largely a 'self-guided' tour. Our guide was helpful but you're left on your own for most of the time. Avoid the wine tasting and find a nice place to eat. There's three tiny glasses of very ordinary wine and its a way of getting you to eat in an average restraurant. Be sure to visit the cementry and the associated museum. Very impressive. We very much liked Lucca and went back the following day.
