Make your own way to Piazza Italia in Montecatini, and meet your guide at 2:45pm. Travel to Santa Maria Novella station in Florence to meet your guide and the rest of your group. From here, you’ll travel together out of the city.
Gaze out of your window as you wind along country roads into Chianti, the hilly region that’s famous for its winemaking heritage. The countryside is famed for its beauty with a patchwork landscape of green hills, broken up by the occasional church, castle or sleepy hilltop village.
Stop at a wine estate in the heart of the region, and head into its cellars for a tour. Hear some of Chianti’s winemaking secrets and learn about the different stages of wine production on the estate. Finish with a wine tasting and snack on cured meat, salami, and bruschetta.
Continue to the hill town of Monteriggioni to see its impressive medieval fortress, and visit shops where traditional Tuscan delicacies are sold. Enjoy free time to visit a cafe for a coffee or gelato (own expense), then head on to your second winery visit of the day. Here, you’ll sample wine alongside samples of the local olive oil and a tangy balsamic vinegar.
Travel back to Florence, then swap to your transfer vehicle to ride back to Montecatini. Your day trip ends at the start point.
