Start the day with 9am pickup at your Medellín hotel, then leave the city for the eje cafetero, a mountainous area whose steep terrain and high altitude climate is ideal for growing some of Colombia's finest coffee. The drive to the coffee farm is roughly 45 minutes, but you’ll break up the ride in San Sebastian, where you can get aerial views of the area from a sightseeing gondola.
When you arrive in the village of Palmitas, continue to a coffee farm to explore local coffee production from field to cup. Find out how coffee is grown, harvested, and processed, and discover what makes Colombian coffee distinctive, and what it takes to create the perfect cup of brewed coffee.
This tour includes a lunch onsite, and you can spend the rest of the day exploring the area. Meet coffee farmers, ask questions about coffee farming and production, and snap photos of the scenic, agricultural landscape—this easy-going area is a world away from the bustling streets of Medellín. At the end of your time on the farm, begin the return trip to Medellín, where this tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel.
