What You Can Expect

Marseille Shore Excursion: Half Day Tour of Marseille by Electric Bike

The Republic Street

When your cruise ship docks in Marseille, meet your guide at the cruise terminal between 9:30am and 10:40am. Then, transfer to the Marseille port and hop onto your electric bicycle to begin your 4-hour cycling tour.

Spin through the city streets and take in top attractions including the Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilizations, the old port, and the Palais du Pharo — built in 1858 by Napoleon III. Explore the Vallon des Auffes — a traditional port outside the city — and listen as your guide sheds light on Marseille’s rich history.

Cycle along the Corniche Kennedy — widely considered among the most beautiful roads in Marseille — and stop along the way for panoramic coastal views. With your electric bike to help with the hills, you need much less peddle power to get around.

Visit the Notre Dame de la Garde basilica and gaze out over the rooftops of Marseille from your vantage point on the high hillside. Then, delve into diverse neighborhoods including the historic Panier district and the newer Joliette district — once an industrial hub.

When your 4-hour cycling tour comes to an end, drop your bike off and return to the cruise terminal to conclude your ride.

Worry-free Shore Excursion:
We will ensure your timely return to the Marseille port for this activity. In the rare event your ship has departed, we will arrange for transportation to the next port-of-call. If your ship is delayed and you are unable to attend this activity, your money will be refunded. See our terms and conditions for full details.

This was one of the best tours we did on our trip to Europe - it was also the one we were most worried about. Not being cyclists or overly fit we did have reservations and were concerned we would really struggle. The majority of the tour was extremely easy and enjoyable. The hill to get up to the Notre Dame de la Garde basilica was very challenging for me however I just walked part of it. Julienne was a great guide. He was funny, patient and knowledgeable. As I said it ended up being one of the best tours of our month in Europe. Absolutely recommend!

We had only one day to see Marseille and this was an excellent use of the time. We had a group of 8 including 2 children 10 and 11 and Julienne was an excellent guide for our group. He was patient with the children who took a few blocks to get a hang of the bikes and was very knowledgeable of the city. We saw everything we hoped to see and he even accommodated us by including his favorite patisserie as a stop on our journey.

What a terrific and unique adventure! This tour was one of the highlights of our vacation. The bikes were easy to cycle Manu, our local guide, was engaging and very knowledgeable. We enjoyed the key attractions like Notre Dame, however, we especially appreciated the beautiful scenery and local spots like L'Esperantine Chocolaterie.

This is an exciting excursion. We had a lot of fun on this bike tour. Imagine the thrill of maneuvering the crazy traffic around Marseille and seeing the sights all on this electric bike. After the initial confusion of the meeting place, we were finally picked up and set up at the location of the bike company. Our tour guide Leo was so good, that he knew exactly where and what would bring us a lot of fun. Marseille is a very busy place, but with the right guidance, we were able to enjoy it like the natives. We recommend this excursion, and we hope to be able to do this ride again.

A great experience, not for the faint of heart. The leader was very good and helping all to enjoy and be safe, but the rides included narrow streets, busy traffic and unexpected hills and turns. More pre-teaching about the route would have been helpful.

Anastasia was our tour guide and she was wonderful. Smart, knowledgeable and in great shape to be able to cycle the hills. It was challenging but worth the effort.
Thanks for another wonderful guide.
