What a thrill to be able to swim with these majestic, gentle creatures! Which I almost didn't. We enjoyed breakfast and the lunch was very good. Authentic Mexican food was very much appreciated and delightful. We were on the water with other boats, so we all had to take turns swimming with the whale sharks. I appreciated our guides Chris and I forgot the other lady's name. They were patient, organize and made a scary experience, fun and enjoyable. The first go at it, instead of jumping in the water, I fell backwards in the boat and missed my opportunity to swim. I was terrified of getting in the water with the whale sharks and not being able to touch the bottom of the ocean. The second try, with encouragement, I made it into the water...but totally freaked out of the fish swimming, the snorkel mask on my face and I wouldn't let go of the top of the boat...Chris pulled me out and promised I would get to see the whale sharks. Round 3, two of the other guest, and the guides suggested I put on a life vest and they said, they would hold my hands so I wouldn't be scared of drowning. They gently guided me to the whale shark and told me when to look down and behold....there he was! I got to see him swim past me. Seeing his spots was the coolest. Had a got in a few seconds earlier...I would of seen his mouth, but I was just thankful I didn't give up and everyone gave up their time to help me have the experience. I thought it was very unselfish of them and I have a wonderful, memorable experience...Thank you everyone again! :
