After morning pickup at your hotel in Beijing, travel for 2.5 hours to reach Chengde.
Your guide drops you off at the Imperial Summer Palace Mountain Resort and gives you ample time to explore the World Heritage Site on your own. Dating to the Qing Dynasty, the palace building began in 1703 and spanned 90 years, producing grounds that feature the largest imperial garden in China (twice the size of the Summer Palace in Beijing).
Take a break for lunch at a local restaurant then drive 1.5 hours to visit the Jinshaling section of the Great Wall of China, one of the best preserved sections of the Great Wall. Spend 1.5 hours at this section of the Great Wall, which stretches about 6 miles (10 km) from the Wangjinglou Tower in the east to Longyukou in the west.
In the late afternoon, start the 2-hour return drive to Beijing where your tour ends with hotel drop-off in Beijing.
