What You Can Expect

Full-Day Piha and Waitakere Ecotour Including Lunch from Auckland

native NZ bush

Receive a morning pickup from your Auckland hotel, continuing on a 30-minute drive to Waitakere Regional Park.

You’ll make your first stop of the day at the Arataki Visitor Centre, where you can gaze out at the panoramic vistas of Auckland and its two harbors. This cultural center also offers unique insight into Maori culture thanks to a variety of Maori carvings on display. You can also learn more about local wildlife in the area, including the ‘weta’ insect and the sky-high ‘Kauri’ trees.

Continue deeper into this wilderness area by heading to the nearby Piha region. You’ll take a short walk to visit a picturesque cascade of waterfalls, and search for native creatures such as the long fin eels and the ‘Keruru’ bird. Make your last activity stop of the morning at one of Piha’s black-sand beaches, a site where you can explore the famous Lion Rock, take a quick dip, or simply sit back and watch the pounding surf.

Before heading back to Auckland, enjoy an included lunch in Piha, after which you’ll receive a drop-off at your hotel.

Mylo was an amazing guide! He was knowledgeable, friendly and fun. He took us on a great tour of seeing coastline, waterfalls and beaches. I highly recommend him and his company.

This was a really good tour, made the better by MIlo. He at no time rushed us along, and kept things going at our pace, not his. That was appreciated. The cultural centre was interesting, and the surf beach fun. But the highlight for us was the opportunity to swim in a waterfall which was only a short stroll from our parking spot. Milo's knowledge, being a local, and story telling added to the day immensely. Would recommend this tour for people of all ages.

Milo was a great host and showed us some super scenery. Waterfall was highlight but the day was well worth the price and time.

A truly flexible small group tour. Outstanding vistas, beaches and local information. The option of eating at the store next door, rather than waste time at a busy restaurant was an excellent decision by the tour guide. And the food was great!

Great tour of the western outskirts of Auckland, and Piha with the black sand beaches. The Aratiki visitor center was also interesting.
Milo was a great guide! Had a good lunch at a cute and quaint cafe near the beach.

GREAT tour! Our tour guide Paul was amazing. Picked us up right from our hotel. He was a very nice guy and very informative about New Zealand. You get to see many great things in this tour including a spectacular waterfall. Piha of course is stunning.

Paul, our guide, picked us up on time and at the designated spot! From the beginning of the tour he was friendly and knowledgeable about Auckland. We were allowed plenty of time to take pictures and he even offered to take our group shots for us. Although all the stops were amazing on the tour, the highlight of the day for us was stopping at beautiful Piha Beach . We had nearly two hours to explore and eat lunch before driving back to the city. Paul made the tour fun and interesting and we'd highly recommend this to anyone who wants to see New Zealand outside of Auckland!!
