Ta Cu Mountain Tours

Ta Cu Mountain is located near Phan Thiet in Southern Vietnam, around an hour’s drive from Mui Ne. The main attraction here is a giant reclining Buddha statue at the top of the mountain; at 49 meters long, this gleaming white sculpture is the largest in Vietnam. This is an important point of pilgrimage for Buddhists, who often stay overnight in the pagoda nearby. As well as pilgrims, Ta Cu Mountain attracts tourists from all over the world, who come for the giant Buddha, impressive views, and ancient Linh Son Truong Tho pagoda.

While it is possible to climb the 500 meters or so up the mountain on foot, the daytime heat makes this something of a challenge, so many visitors choose to take the cable car instead. While walking up a mountain through nature has its own rewards, the 15-minute cable car ride is convenient and offers beautiful views of the surrounding forests and rice plantations below. From the top of the mountain, it’s a short (yet fairly steep) walk to reach the Buddha, and there are various other religious statues and artifacts, as well as some excellent lookout points from which to enjoy those sweeping views down the mountain.

To explore more of what the area has to offer, join a two-day Mui Ne trip from Ho Chi Minh City, which combines a visit to Ta Cu Mountain with a trip to the Red Sand Dunes, the Fairy Stream, a traditional fishing village, and the beach.
