Shanghai Ocean Aquarium Tours

The Shanghai Ocean Aquarium is located in the Pudong District of the city. It’s one of the largest ocean aquariums in the world, covering an area of 20,500 square meters, and features the world's longest viewing tunnel, which leads visitors through a coastal reef, open ocean section, a kelp cave and a shark cove.

The aquarium consists of two pyramid-shaped structures. The main building is divided into nine themed exhibition zones featuring marine life from around the world. There are more than 450 species of aquatic creatures from the five continents and four oceans, including rare species such as poison dart frogs, moonfish, leafy sea dragons and even Humboldt penguins.

The China Zone is of particular interest, as the Shanghai Ocean Aquarium is the only place in the world to specialize in the endangered species of China and the marine life of the Yangtze valley. Here, visitors will find protected species such as the Chinese sturgeon, the Yangtze alligator, and the giant salamander. In addition to the main exhibition area, there is a gift shop and a restaurant within the complex.
