Those looking for proof that Paris is the City of Love should make a beeline for Square Jehan Rictus in the city’s Montmartre neighborhood – home to the moving mural known as the ‘Wall of Love’ or ‘Le Mur des Je t’aime’. The masterpiece of artists Frédéric Baron and Claire Kito is a visionary piece born out of the former’s love of travel, language and romance, and standing for peace, reconciliation and, of course, love.
The wall itself stands 4 meters high and 10 meters long, made from 612 dark-blue enamel tiles and emblazoned with the words ‘I Love You’ a mind-boggling 311 times. Not only that, but the declaration is translated into over 250 languages, each written in beautiful calligraphic script. Proof surely, that the language of love is universal!
The Wall of Love is located in the Jehan Rictus Square in Paris’ Montmartre district.
