Longue Vue House and Gardens make up a landmark New Orleans city estate made up of eight acres. The site's Classical Revival-style mansion is impressive in size and splendor, with 22,00 square feet of space, and the gardens consist of 14 different areas, each a well-manicured marvel.
Inspired by the gardens of Spain's Alhambra, Longue Vue's Spanish Court remains one of the most treasured landscapes in New Orleans, with an array of lyrical fountains that launch long arches of water across a rectangular pool. Indoors, visitors can see what it may have been like to live sumptuously in the Deep South during the Country Place Era of 1890 to 1930.
Longue Vue House and Gardens is located in New Orleans' Lakewood neighborhood at 7 Bamboo Road. The site is open Monday through Saturday from 10am to 5pm and on Sunday from 1 to 5pm. House tours take place every hour on the hour, with the last of the day starting at 4pm.
