Øresund Bridge Tours

The Oresund Bridge stretches 16 kilometers between Denmark and Sweden, providing a connection between Scandinavia and the European continent. It is considered a marvel of engineering and is the longest combined road and rail bridge in Europe. The bridge itself is eight kilometers long and connects to the manmade Peberholm Island and then to the Drogden Tunnel that leads to Denmark’s Amager Island. Opened in the year 2000, the bridge allows visitors to cross the Oresund Straight by car in just 10 minutes, with cars passing on the upper level of the bridge and rail tracks running on the lower level.

Peberholm Island, which was created to accommodate the bridge piers and tunnel, is now a designated nature reserve with a wide range of flora and fauna, including more than 500 different species of plants, as well as rare spiders, insects and a rare green toad.

Practical Info

To get on the bridge from Malmo, take Amiralsgatan from the Old Town to Nobelvagen, which turns into Trelleborgsvagen. From there, join the E20 highway, which leads across the Oresund Bridge to Amager Island in Denmark. From Copenhagen, take Orestads Boulevard and Center Boulevard to get on E20.
