Palma Arab Baths (Baños Arabes) Tours

One of the last remaining relics of the Moorish influence in the Balearics, the Arab Baths of Palma date back to the 10th and 12th centuries. The baths sit regally in the former orchards of the Can Fontirroig manor, and are thought to have once been part of a nobleman’s estate. Today they are beautifully integrated into local gardens that can be visited for the afternoon.

A look at the bath’s unique columns reveals ancient roots. It is believed that they were built from ruins of Roman, Byzantine, and Muslim structures that once stood in its place. Parts of the baths are said to be the only existing ruins of the Arab city of Medina Mayurqa.

Arches above the columns elegantly frame the circular central room. Beautiful plants and greenery surround the structure. A tranquil spot to explore, the site is significant both historically and culturally and is worth a visit to see the ancient architectural style alone.

Practical Info

Palma’s Arab Baths are located on Palma’s Carrer de Can Serra, not far from the Parc de la Mar. They’re open daily and have a small admission fee to access.
