Virginia City is in western Nevada at the base of the Sierra Nevada, just south of Reno and Interstate 80. It lies along State Route 341 between U.S. Route 50 in Carson and U.S. Route 395. It is about a 30-minute drive from the Reno-Tahoe International Airport.
