Little else speaks to the diverse abundance of Florida’s waterways than a trip to the Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve. Alligators, herons, wild pigs, otters, butterflies and more all compete for more than 2,200 acres of prime Florida wetland. With 1.2 miles of boardwalk, you can wander these intimate habitats in an accessible yet noninvasive way while pointing out wildlife to loved ones. A photo blind allows visitors to get incredibly close shots of some of the animals, and two observation towers keep kids entertained with mile-long views of this unique environment.
The boardwalk is open from 8am to 8pm daily. Admission is free and parking is $0.75 cents per hour with a $3 daily maximum. The Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve is located on Ben C. Pratt Six Mile Cypress Parkway, just north of Daniels Road.
