Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp Tours

Please note: The Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp is closed for renovation until 2019.

Famed for housing one of the world's largest collections of works by local icon Rubens, along with an impressive selection of Flemish artists, Antwerp’s Royal Museum of Fine Arts is one of the city’s leading art institutions. Since opening its doors in the Zuid district in 1890, the museum’s permanent collection has amassed some 7,600 paintings, sculptures and prints, with significant wall-space devoted to Antwerp-based artists like Rubens, Van Dijck and Jordaens.

Behind the neoclassical colonnaded façade, art lovers can take in 15th-century masterpieces by Flemish Primitives like Jan van Eyck and Hans Memling, alongside international names like Jean Fouquet, Frans Hals, Titian, Amedeo Modigliani and Auguste Rodin. More recent highlights include the world’s largest collection of 19th-century works by Belgian painter Rik Wouters, an acclaimed selection of James Ensor paintings and a revolving series of temporary exhibitions.

Practical Info:

The museum is currently undergoing renovations and is projected to be closed until 2019, however, most of the art can still be viewed at different venues throughout the city. Please consult the KMSKA website for more details.
